Oh yeah,
It has been a realllly busy couple of months. A good busy. But August, well… I’m about to go mock speed.
To highlight the happenings thus far:
Entered one ceramic sculpture into a multimedia show in Illinois at the Kavanaugh Gallery called “From the Earth”. My piece “ Husk” was accepted. Here is a link: https://fineline.org/products/copy-of-chloris?_pos=5&_sid=dc824e46d&_ss=r
Part of a few summer markets. I sold work!!! yay!! and not the work I exspected to sell either. Really bright colorful things that I love but didnt think others would at all. The best part of these summer sales opportunities were the people get to do them with. Cream City Clay members have an abundance of talent and kindness. Most of the time they have no idea how much talent they have or how much they inspire me. “My cup overflows”. as Joel says.
Next is August. I will be trying to figure out how to live stream my art making from Cedarburg Cultural Center. My art residency starts August 1st till approximately the 15th. I will be there almost every weekday from 10 till 1pm. I will be teaching a multimedia workshop on August 11th. The workshop focuses mainly on how I put together layers of media that best support the image I am trying to create: I ask people to bring in their work or just draw something and play with the layers. This isn’t a “learn to draw” class but a “expand the mediums you use” class.

My plan is to bring a borrowed wheel, Thank you Katie Hunt! And make things. I will also be using some large paper or boards to draw and paint on. I’ll be working in my sketchbooks where I work out my ideas as well. It will be a hoot to watch. I am basically on view as I go through my process of trial and error and then a final creation of somekind. i have an idea but its etherial and I can’t wait to see where the materials actually end up. Bravery abounds!!!
Cream City Clay has 2 galleries. Stop in to visit me or my fellow potters. New work for sale all the time. https://www.creamcityclay.com/
*You can find Katie’s work at Cream City Clay in West Allis and MARN, downtown milwaukee.
